Knovo

Knovo is a DC-based sextet that delivers a dreamy blend of indie, jazz, and psych rock, which aims for both the mind and soul. Formed in 2018, Knovo is the brainchild of husband-and-wife duo TJ Turqman (bass) and Gena Photiadis (keys/vocals), and features the unique vocal stylings of Tula Pisano, who deftly weaves intricate melodies that are equal parts evocative and beautiful. Rounding out the lineup are the tasteful and dynamic contributions of guitarist Nikhel Sus and drummer Matt Tredwell. The group’s collective influences yield a sound that is melodic, yet distressed. Retro, yet new. And above all, full of light and energy.

Gooseberry

Gooseberry is a 4-piece band from Brooklyn, New York born during the Fall of 2019. Their combination of blues, R&B, and indie rock is a recipe for a unique sound that Gooseberry delivers in each song. The band consists of Asa Daniels (formerly of Baked Goods) on guitar/vocals, Evin Rossington (drums), Sam Rappaport (keys, vocals), and Will Hammond (bass). The band is inherently made up of competing elements. They are often referred to as having "two bands in one." This phenomenon can be attributed to the uniquely different approaches of their two chief songwriters—Asa and Sam. Per Tonemill, "The music feels live, organic and...we can imagine belting out adoringly while swaying our bodies at a Gooseberry gig."

Humbalaya

Humbalaya was formed at the University of Maryland, College Park in 2015, and has played around the DMV area ever since. The six-piece group found that their meals and musical experiences lend themselves to one another, and try to combine the joys of both into one. With elements of Latin, rock, funk, and jazz fusion, Humbalaya will bring you comfort just like a delicious home-cooked meal.
