ViRG
‘ViRG’ is an American synth-based indie rock band from Virginia formed by Piano Whitman. ‘ViRG’ is centered around Whitman's commanding voice, which echoes the power and vulnerability of Sharon Van Etten or Florence Welch, reinforced by intricate, lush synthesizers and strong rhythms produced by both drum-machines and acoustic percussion.
In a live setting, ‘ViRG’ is sometimes a fully realized four-piece indie-rock outfit (just without the guitars) comprised by an array of synthesizers and a stage presence reminiscent of chilled out Glam-Rock, other times as a completely solo act with Whitman performing a high-wire juggle of analog synthesizer, drum-machine, and front-womanly duties.
Fans of both straight ahead indie-pop songwriting or the moody tech excursions of ‘Kid A’ will find something to enjoy in ViRG’s repertoire.
